A was a spy?
Long searched for the film “Balkan spy” Dusan Kovacevic and Bojidar Nikolic, 1984, finally found and today watched. Well, what I can say - it seemed to me that there are still films, the sharpness of which fades over time, although the idea itself was not bad. In the house of Elijah, once served two years in prison “for politics”, a guest appears, and after a while Elijah is called to the police inspector and he, incidentally, is interested in his guest who came home from France, where he lived for 20 years, having worked as a tailor and earned decent money by local standards. After this visit, Elijah begins to be haunted by the paranoid idea that if the police asked him, his guest is a spy and is preparing a conspiracy. As you know, only a fool with initiative is worse than a fool, in this case this idea is fully confirmed even in a double size, since Elijah calls himself to help his twin brother, who, being the same paranoid jerk, is also extremely cruel (at one time served 4 years).
The comic story gradually acquires a very tragic character. They begin to follow the tailor and his friends, then take out pistols and a portrait of their idol - Stalin (!) and begin to dig the ground with their noses, and the brother goes on to assault. This film is of course a political satire, but it is somewhat outdated, although we still remember these realities. The musical accompaniment, as always with the Yugoslavs, is very expressive - in the next house, rehearsals of the amateur choir are constantly held and their song turns into such an obsessive refrain by the end of the film. I can recommend watching this film only to fans of this genre and movie fans for general development.
