"And you necrophile is" © A year before his death in 1949, George Orwell wrote the dystopian novel 1984. The idea of this work, I believe, is taken as the basis of the film "Brazil". Terry Gilliam. The film shows a bureaucratic state with a technocratic dictatorship. The main character of the film is Sam Lowry, a petty official who reports to his superiors, who, on a ridiculous occasion, is associated with the story of the mistakenly accused Battle and the terrorist Tuttle. Basically, the whole film is an absurdly satirical story, even sometimes with elements of delirium, well, this is personal to my taste.
As mentioned above, the director of this film is Terry Gilliam, one of the members of the British comedian group Monty Python. The first Gilliam movie I saw was The Brothers Grimm. Even without really knowing the works of the British director, this picture seemed to me typical Hollywood mainstream, but now I can safely say that there is something in the film that is only in the works of Gilliam. In the future, I watched such films as
"Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus" and
"12 monkeys", which I consider the best among the director's works.
The main role in the film was played by Jonathan Price, known to me from the trilogy
"Pirates of the Caribbean" and the role of the President of the United States in the film
"Cobra Throw". Price played great, he showed well an official who is frightened by the dictatorship of the state. Also in the film appeared Robert De Niro, who played the role of Harry Tuttle. Robert got not so much screen time, but for this not so long he was able to show himself as a good actor. Also remembered was the actress Kim Greist, whose heroine Sam Lowry saw in dreams and then saw in reality. Ian Holm played a great role. Terry Gilliam did a great job. I thought the film was a bit long and boring, but that’s just my opinion. Some scenes seemed crazy to me. But the movie still turned out good. The main advantage of this film, to my taste, was the ending of the film. Some will say that she ruined the whole film, but I will say that the film only won because of her.
The result was a gloomy film with elements of satire in the Kafkaesque style.
P.S. It's all the fault of the little fly.
