London after midnight In educational terms, perhaps the third part in the franchise became the most insignificant, the most historical that children can take out of the plot is the eruption of a volcano in Pompeii. In terms of entertainment cinema and fun humor, everything here is quite successful. The triquel turned out for some reason to a greater extent even for adults - the strained conflict of a son who does not want to go to university, but to become a DJ in Ibiza, and the father's endless reflections on how to react to this. And the main motive of the film is “let go”, built in a dramatic and farewell ending, for the most part again a metaphor for child-parent relationships.
Children will be pleased with the abundance of special effects, the second dinosaur skeleton (this time Triceratops will make a couple of T-Rex), a cameo by Hugh Jackman, who is building a Wolverine, and a funny monkey, which has already become a key attraction from film to film. It is worth saying that not all visuals are built at the highest level. This concerns both graphics and even scaling the little characters of Clive Owen and Steve Coogan against the rest. However, a number of hacks say goodbye after the most vivid and memorable scenes of the film: the rise of the constellations, the multi-headed hydra, the battle inside the picture with stairs – by the way, I do not remember that in previous parts the characters could jump through the paintings, or forgot, or the franchise has a great feature that can be implemented even by a spin-off about art galleries of the world.
Changing scenery and moving to London for the film was a great idea to show something new, rather than stomping around in the old place. However, the general situation has not changed: old characters + new exhibits, while there are not so many innovations in the global sense. Yes, everyone will remember Sir Lancelot, dancing Garuda, Pharaoh Ben Kingsley and already mentioned Hydra, the battle with which here is almost the pinnacle of all available action. But if you remember the very first film - there everything was somehow larger and more advanced, much more new, bright and unusual.
At least the characters are not limited only to the museum walls, and by the end of the film, London after midnight becomes full of living statues of lions playing with the light of a flashlight, like a kitten with a sunbunny on YouTobe channels. The adventure succeeded in itself, the film is fun, the film is not boring, throughout its length it moves in the right direction and the right direction, well, about who suddenly will be the main antagonist guess not at once, which also adds to the picture of interest.
In some places, of course, the stick is strongly bent, ranging from kissing a monkey, and ending in general with the presence in the caste of Rebel Wilson, capable of spoiling any movie. Not all jokes can be called funny or appropriate, but the total amount of nonsense done is bound to entertain the target audience. It looks like it will be the last time.
Too dramatic ending practically puts an end not only to the entire franchise, but also to the participation of Ben Stiller as the main character. And, of course, it is impossible without tears to watch the great Robin Williams with a smile say goodbye to us for the last time, frozen forever with a statue-monument. On the one hand, it may be right to end the whole story with such a triquel, on the other hand, “Night at the Museum” has always seemed to be a film series with a huge potential for entertainment and cognitive, which is how to say goodbye quite sadly.
Made according to all the canons and templates of the third parts, this movie-triquel may not meet all the expectations of its fans, but will provide a good new adventure with your favorite characters. Humor and special effects will do their job, and for the third time we will see how funny, dangerous, impressive and cute characters of the layers of history come to life before our eyes.
