The cartoon is very controversial. Some parts of it are so good that they are not ashamed to compare if not with Pixar, then with Soviet cartoons for sure. Other parts are squalid and dull as sequels of The Rich Men, or worse. The first is the villain, the Magic Country and its inhabitants, the second is Ellie and everything related to her.
Urfin with the voice of Khabensky is simply gorgeous. His motivation is a little simple, but he is a great villain, or rather even an antihero, who causes interest and empathy. His army of negligent dubbers is very amusing, and the bear, so touchingly caring for his master, is very sweet. Pretty fat looks and Scarecrow, who brought to the plot a couple of original and unexpected moves. There are no jokes in the cartoon that would make you laugh in your voice, but it is full of cute or funny moments that cause a smile and leave a warm cozy feeling in your soul. And then Ellie appears on the screen and spoils everything.
She is considered the main character, but the whole main conflict unfolds without her participation. While Urfin and Scarecrow solve their problems, Ellie spends most of the film going to the Emerald City to throw a shoe at an iron monster and fly back to where she came from. Not only is it useless, it whines all the way. Not only does it whine, but it also does it in a “fashion-youth” (according to the creators) style, believing that it got into a computer game. It's incredibly annoying. Her whole storyline seems to have been cut out of some low-grade animated series for preschool and inserted here for some reason. Shame on that writer/producer who decided that such a character would look cool and attract viewers.
A couple of years ago, when the first trailers of this cartoon began to appear, there were rumors that its main character would be Urfin Juce, and it is a pity that this was not the case. All the characters, except Ellie, are well worked out, and the plot in places looks too hasty and equal, as if many scenes were cut out of it.
Even though Ellie and her dog were nasty, the cartoon still made a pleasant impression. Until the final. Incredibly stupid, sudden and inappropriate finale, when the creators decided to score on the logic of their own world, the previously written storylines, the motivation of the characters and stuck to what would look fun and like in a computer game. With appropriate sounds. It looks disgusting and crosses out all the good that is in the cartoon.
I hope the studio will not inflate this franchise.
