After school, Sergei Mikhailovich studied at the Tula Polytechnic until the 78th, where he had already begun to try himself in the institute film studio. It wasn’t just another hobby. He enters VGIK (in the workshop of Figurovsky) to the screenwriter and in the 80th graduates from this faculty. Without stopping at this, in the 89th he graduates from the Higher Directorial and Screenplay Courses in the workshop of R. Bykov.
The young director debuted in 1980 (the film was released in the 88th)

To date, Selyanov is a producer of more than forty full-length feature and documentaries, which were repeatedly awarded at Russian and world film festivals; he produced several programs at ORT in 1996-1999. For more than 30 years of his activity, he was in several roles: actor, director, scriptwriter, producer, played himself in 2002 in the series “School of Backbiting”.

To date, the director has shot more than 25 different films.
Today, Sergey Selyanov is busy with the problems of education in the film art of an alternative direction, taking as an example the training of American and European actors in their film schools. They are discussing the issues of improving the skills of screenwriters working on film. Under his relentless leadership, a war is being waged against “piracy” in the film industry.
