Don't leave the room, don't make a mistake Fantastic thriller Time Mistake falls into the category of good movies that nobody watches. You will not see an advertisement for such a picture on TV, and in theaters only a couple of evening sessions are allocated to such tapes. Movies of this kind are usually recommended to us by friends who accidentally got to an inconspicuous, but unexpectedly interesting movie. So let’s just agree: before you not a clever review, but a friendly recommendation.
The plot of the picture at first glance seems interesting, but simple. Just do not be naive to believe that you will be able to predict what will turn out in the end. In short, the plot is as follows: three friends living together, look at their neighbor opposite, whom no one has seen for a long time, and find a strange mechanism in his house. On top of that, a missing neighbor, who is a scientist by the way, covered his wall with pictures of the main characters’ living room, which he watched every day. Friends find out that the mysterious machine every night at the same time gives a picture of what will happen in 24 hours. True, the car creates photos not only in the evenings and does not necessarily take pictures of tomorrow, but the characters do not know about this, and if we tell further, inevitable spoilers will follow. Oh, yeah, if someone tries to change what they see in the photo, they're going to pay a big price. Or the characters only think that, but in fact everything is completely different.
In short, this story is not about time travel, but about human relationships and how such a fantastic mechanism can affect people. The director urges each viewer to think about how he would dispose of such opportunities. Everyone wants to look at the future at least for a moment. So our heroes decide to use a mysterious mechanism to their advantage. Finn finds inspiration and paints the pictures he sees in the future, Jasper makes a lot of money by learning the results of dog races in advance, and Callie now does not have to work, and she can devote all her time to writing stories. The only problem is that the characters must repeat exactly what they see in the pictures. What to do if the future orders you to bring a dangerous person into the house or kiss a friend’s girlfriend?
Each hero pursues his secret goals, which will be revealed only closer to the final. Characters develop throughout the film and at the end of the film will be revealed from an unexpected side. The picture will first of all be close to thinking viewers who will follow each action of the characters and analyze the consequences. The denouement will please with an unexpected plot twist, but not in the spirit of M. Night Shyamalan, but quite logical and shocking. Of course, you can add a spoonful of tar to a barrel of honey. For example, if the motivation of the characters is quite clear and justified in the first half of the film, then towards the end some characters begin to create some kind of game. And during the denouement, the heap of new facts that turn everything upside down may not seem quite clear.
If we talk about actors, then “Time Mistake” is an illustrative example when you have exactly seen the main characters somewhere, but can not remember where. Daniel Panabaker flashes in the series “The Flash” and “Arrow”, and Matthew O’Leary once lit up in three parts of “Spy Kids”. You probably won’t remember George Finn either, because he appeared mostly in episodes of various TV shows. Young actors play quite convincingly - you believe the heroes without problems and do not notice any falsehood. By the way, in the credits of the tape was noted John Rhys-Davis, known to everyone as Gimley from “Lord of the Rings”. Some geeks will remember the series Parallel Worlds with him, so time travel is not new for the actor. In the film, he does not appear anywhere except in photographs.
As a result, “Time Mistake” turned out to be a strong and smart fantastic thriller, with a confusing and interesting plot and a non-standard idea. We don’t see such pictures often and it’s even more disappointing when such films don’t collect anything at the box office. And often they are simply not understood by the audience, as, for example, the great film “Triangle”, in which, due to a confusing scenario, few people saw the deep message.
