Space jam - how much in this phrase for people who grew up in the 90s. Michael Jordan was the idol of most children interested in basketball. For Russians, one of the few opportunities to peek into the NBA kitchen at the time was a Michael and Buggs Bunny movie.
The first film became a cult due to many elements - basketball players of the current (at that time - Jordan, Charles Barkley, etc.) and a bygone era (Larry Bird), dynamic transitions from the cartoon atmosphere to the real world, memorable monster villains, an excellent soundtrack that has become a classic.
In the age of remakes and reboots, continuation was inevitable. The role of the protagonist is just as obvious, no one has come as close to MJ as Le Bron James. Over 25 years, a lot has changed - and basketball itself, cartoons have become three-dimensional, cinema tries to explain everything and make it more serious.
Fears about this film were fully confirmed. The director forgot to tell LeBron that you should be in the movie, even if you play yourself. The main villain is more annoying than causing any intrigue and sympathy. Basketball in the film plays a purely secondary role and shows more in the style of a computer game. The abundance of special effects interferes and often does not make it clear what is happening in the frame. The plot is sucked from the finger, the instructiveness is pulled by the ears. Of the basketball players of rivals, only Anthony Davis is recognizable, for some reason they took female basketball players (apparently for inclusivity). The identities of the cartoons (Looney-Tunes) are not at all revealed (unlike the first part), the feeling that they were taken purely for recognition, and could be replaced with the same success by any others.
Unfortunately, another failed rebuke. One of those rare movies that you watch through the power and you want it to end quickly.
In the film there are a couple of funny moments in the form of cameos of different characters from the Warner Brothers piggy bank, for which I throw this film 1 point.
3/10 - you can safely skip even the fans of the first part.
