The film, in the Russian box office called "Revenge from couture" / The Dressmaker, ie Portnikha, 2015. This is an Australian retro film directed by Jocelyn Moorhouse - such a very grotesque drama with elements of a thriller, which began so that one could suspect the plot is quite comedic. A very confident-looking young woman, Myrtle, now called Tilly, returns after a 25-year absence to the Australian hole where she comes from to try to deal with the long-standing story, because of which she was taken from her mother at the age of 10 and taken away to an orphanage, she was accused of the death of a boy. Her mother is in a semi-mad state, long ago put an end to herself and stopped somehow watching herself. Tilly during her absence became a good fashion designer and dressmaker, her talent eventually finds demand in her native town, and the circumstances of the incident gradually become clearer, like her personal life begins to slowly develop, almost making her believe that the heroine (and us) is waiting for a happy ending, but this was not the case here. The end is not what it is, I will not tell you. Good actors - and Kate Winslet in the role of Tilly, and Judy Davis in the role of her mother, and all the other very expressive characters, such local bitches and bitches, with rare exceptions, whose stories we almost do not know, but they are very juicy and in places very grotesque, as well as the whole parade of bright, albeit quite stylish outfits on the local residents against the background of bare Australian steppes and very modest entourage. It was a very interesting movie (at least for me).
