The picture “And the lights go out...” 2016 is an expanded version of the short film. If earlier we could only guess who the mysterious silhouette of the darkness really is, now we have every chance to finally deal with all the horrors and together with the heroes of the film to give them a decent rebuff. If for some reason you did not have time to get acquainted with the short film, I can safely say that this does not affect the perception of “The light goes out...”, since the story is self-sufficient, logical and understandable. As before, the plot revolves around a ghostly entity terrorizing innocent children because of past parental mistakes. Horror is built skillfully, it is really frightening and even I, who has seen the types of connoisseur of such stories, ran goosebumps several times.
The most memorable moments of the film relate to the direct appearance of a ghost. It seems that constantly recurring nightmares gradually dull the feeling of fear, but “And the lights go out...” somehow bypasses this law. The ghost appears in the frame repeatedly, only get used to it will not work. The director invents more and more ways of intimidation, and it is worth admitting. That it turns out to be pretty decent. Just remember the scene in the basement with dummies. You kind of prepare for the worst, and you lose that duel to the director early on. With the task of frightening “And the lights go out...” copes above all praise. My next statement may sound a bit presumptuous, but I think David Sandberg is capable of putting his patron, James Wan, in serious competition. But whatever it was, we are ordinary viewers with popcorn on their laps, in any case in the win.
