...And in soul I dance! The French-Canadian vivid cartoon "Ballerina" will please with beautiful animation, classical music and a very good story about how to strive for your dream and do your favorite thing. In the original, so also with the voices of Ellie Fanning and Dane DeHaan, but we, of course, goes in dubbing.
It would seem at first glance a fairly simple story. An orphan who wants to dance, a lot of obstacles through which you often have to pass through lies and deception, a number of colorful, but very stereotyped villains and competitors, and the superficial essence is reduced to the banal “never give up”. But the cartoon is still deeper than it seems at first.
It is also curious how well the central plot is complemented by the sideline about the boy-inventor, and you can draw a lot of parallels between this couple, it is only a pity that the main plot move with the aircraft is made directly on the poster of the film, because the boy simply does not really succeed before him.
Most of all in this cartoon touches the transformation of the characters of the second plan, especially the transformation of a number of negative characters into positive ones, when suddenly it turns out that they too have a heart and mind, and under the cold harsh wrapping still warms up inner warmth and a sense of justice.
It is thanks to such subtle nuances that lead many heroes to the usual patterns, this story touches the hearts of the audience. Despite the theme of the ballet, the cartoon can not be called frankly “only for girls”, it is very dynamic, sometimes downright harrowing and emotional, but in itself touching and bright, full of adventure, dangers and interesting plot moves.
Problems fall on the main character, like Cinderella. Despite the fact that by the end of the viewing, you can not call the cartoon otherwise than soulful, during the viewing, the heart will tingle from the unjust things happening with the heroine, the evil nature of cruel negative heroes, and a lot of difficulties through which the young orphan will have to get to her dream. As if repeating to herself - ... and in the soul I dance - she can even turn some cleaning into a graceful show.
What is more interesting, the cartoon is much more about friendship and friendship, it does not have a love story and any romance, except for its figurative meaning - in terms of ballet, music, the realization of a beautiful dream. And it is the fact that the cartoon confidently moves forward without pink snot and kisses, perhaps one of its essential features. However, some viewers may not be enough.
The picture plays on another field of feelings, touching with its sincerity the strings of the soul, trying to beat all sorts of curious chips in a very not new plot, adding to the plot and construction of the Statue of Liberty for New York, and impressing with dizzying angles during its most spectacular and driving episodes.
I also want to note that the cartoon was shot by a tandem of studios that do not specialize in animation, but they did everything – pleasant heroes, a detailed world, and the duo of two Erics – Eric Summer and Eric Warin in many scenes such as a rooftop dance or an episode with a bell did incredibly expressive work to make this cartoon visually impressive and memorable.
With the general predictability of history, there is much to learn and think about. The cartoon is not about ballet, and not even about striving for your dream, by all means. The final question is “Why are you dancing?” And the way two rival girls respond differently to him, finally finding mutual understanding, is his main idea. Doing your favorite thing in life. What is your life, what is your life, what is your life. Not what your mom made you do. That's it.
