Watched the English film “Party”, which is called a comedy of tragic circumstances, directed by Sally Potter in 2017. It is rather a performance in the style of a typical British farce. The film was shot by Russian cameraman Alexei Rodionov, who previously shot one of her films - Orlando, but also many Russian films, including very famous ones. A certain lady Janet (Christine Scott Thomas) throws a party for her appointment as Minister of Health, it is attended by her husband Bill (Timothy Spall) and her closest friends - her friend April (Patricia Clarkson) with her husband Gottfried (Bruno Gantz), a couple of lesbians Martha and Ginny, one of whom is pregnant with triplets, and the husband of her closest associate, who is due to come later, Tom (Cillian Murphy) - a financier and drug addict. At first, everything goes, as usual, nothing new for participants who have known each other for a long time, the bickering of a friend with her husband, the bustle of the hostess in the kitchen, conversations - until the husband of the hostess, who kept silence with a very detached look, shares the news, then some more circumstances are clarified. That’s when the whole structure of the relationship of this company begins to crumble literally before our eyes. I will not advise everyone to watch this film, it is very specific English, with some elements not just satire, but political satire.
