Cillian Murphy was born in County Cork to a family where all adults (including uncle, aunt, and grandfather) taught. And everyone loved music. And young Killian was just raving about rock. He wrote songs, played guitar, sang. Along with his younger brother, Padie was a member of several bands, including The Sons of Mr. Green Genes. Eventually, one of the record companies offered the brothers a contract. Parents read the document and dissuaded the brothers to sign it, it was too enslaving for young performers.
Meanwhile, Killian graduated from high school and college. Back in school, he got to a master class, which was given to students by Pat Kiernan, art director of Cork’s Corcadorca Theatre Company. Killian later said that he experienced the sensation that the current passed through the spinal ridge. Music has a rival in his life – drama.
Killian entered the University of Cork, began to play in the student theater and gradually became so carried away that he abandoned his studies in law. He regularly and persistently auditioned for the Corcadorca Theatre Company, and was similarly rejected. But finally, he was given the role of Pig in the play Disco Pig by Enda Walsh. This play about two antisocial teenagers was such a resounding success that it was selected for the Dublin Regional Festival, where it won first place, and then taken to the UK. Later, a film version of the play was created, where Killian Murphy was invited. By that time, he already had a little experience in filming series.
After screening
film "28 Days Later" Killian was spotted in Hollywood. In Batman Begins, he played Dr. Crane, in Night Flight, Jackson Rippner, a negative but very charming character. And the film “The Wind That Swings Barley” by Ken Loach with the participation of Killian Murphy received “Palm Branch” at the festival in Cannes. /
