I don’t know how to compare it to Lost. True, I did not watch the latter, but in the Lost Room such mystery could not be created. Quite a banal place of action (the megapolis is not a mysterious tropical island lost in the ocean), the predominance of action over drama (in Lost, however, the characters tried to reveal as fully as possible and show their ambiguity), and just a concept reminiscent of some Internet teenage horror story.
Yes, there is a certain mystery, even some kind of esoteric subtext is outlined - but against the background of running with artifacts, all this is lost.
The essence is banal: a good cop is looking for a lost daughter, bad bandits and sectarians interfere with him. In addition, if it is not the cost of translation – is it not strange that from series to series one, then another artifact called the key and the coolest?
In general, the show is a typical American TV series. The scene is the American metropolis and the American outback with dusty roads and dull motels. Stylistics – typical Hollywood, a little humor, a little pathos, no visual delights. No special tinder (although the first series begins, almost like a horror), no special psychedelia (standard Hollywood set - unearthly glow, blurred flashing, do not understand anything). Uncomplicated intrigue and predictable plot. The remainder is an adventure action movie with elements of a thriller. The closest associations are comics about the X-Men or the anime Darker than Black, with the difference that the creators of the “Lost Room” gathered to confront, not heroes with superpowers, but carriers of powerful artifacts. But neither the charisma of supermutants and the style of classical comics, nor the philosophical depth (all limited to murky allusions to the Platonic world of ideas and even more vague references to Gnosticism), the aforementioned anime is not here.
However, the series is not bad in its own way - it is quite suitable as entertainment. The hero, although positive in the board, wildly similar to Jack from Lost, still causes sympathy and respect - despite all the troubles, he remains a person and does not give up to the end. Some artifacts amuse with their comic effects, and their owners are interesting personalities. It is very interesting to watch the metamorphoses of a bandit who lost his magical superweapon and turned from a formidable killer into a petty scoundrel. The idea, although raw and inconclusive, and more suitable for a children's fairy tale than for an "adult" mystical series, is quite capable of "grabbing".
But the implementation of this idea would like to be more understandable.
Result: a pop crime and adventure film with elements of a mystical thriller. In principle, you can have a good time watching it, but it is nothing special – it is shot by the standards of Hollywood and the American film and serial industry. The second season could have saved him - it is a painfully crumpled plot. But it seems that there will be no continuation. 7 out of 10
