The film is unexpected and unusual, and at the same time very vital, realistic, soulful. Very difficult topics are touched upon here, the plot plays on the most important, most secret, most deep, most dear to the heart, I would even say the fundamental strings of the human soul - parenthood, family, faith, the meaning of life. And therefore, the experiences of the main character are understandable, probably, to every person, so her grief, her despair, her inner throwing, her pain penetrates under the skin and the viewer.
Yes, but although everyone understands the situation, but it seems to me that everyone will make their own conclusions based on their own life position, because there are no conclusions, just food for thought, this is a story that is far from unique, but still makes you think about something of your own, which is closer to who, what is more important to who.
My feelings: I understand Shin E very well, I have before my eyes a clear example of orphaned parents (my own, who lost their first child by an unfortunate accident), I saw it all in person and I can say for sure, everything is very reliable, and not at all embellished and the methods of silencing the gaping inner emptiness are also familiar to me. The actress just tears her soul to shreds with her play, well, very impressive!
And I am also painfully familiar with those places where Shin E came for consolation and I can also say with confidence that they come there as the last shelter, at the end of vital resources, in the hope of deliverance, but in the end they do not get anything, it is this kind of “comforters” that is not effective, tested on their own skin, and it is all pressing and suffocating kindness, participation, sympathy, understanding in quotation marks, honey-pouring beautiful words and elegant expressions, false grace and attracted for the feeling of the community to the sounds of calming music, as if it breaks the cardboard... And on its ruins remains the same human falsity, weakness and alienation, and yet each for himself, each for himself, each alone with his own problem and only himself, alone with himself and God, who does not live in man-made temples, but inside each of us, you can resolve yourself from such a heavy burden, no one will help in this situation, no one. And very clearly and again without embellishment, the contrast is shown between those who declare themselves as friends-comrades, and those who, although in the shadows, though not without sin, but help gradually and substitute a friendly shoulder in moments of weakness.
For me, the film turned out to be significant, its theme is too close to me, it pierced right to tears, the author managed to ruin in me long-standing memories and past feelings, bitter tastes of unjustified hopes and deceived trust.
What can we say in the end? A good film, worthwhile, thoughtful, necessary, catching and not letting go for a long time... That's what happened to me anyway. I very much agree with the comparison of Chan Dong Lee with Lars von Trier, there is a general aftertaste, and I am pleased with it - he also knows how to turn the audience's soul inside out, squeeze it out well and leave the viewer in awe in deep reflection on what he saw, heard and felt.
