Sometimes they come back Xander Cage returned, which many did not even believe, because so many years have passed since the release of the cult and absolutely masterpiece of the first part. Some have already considered that the return was in vain and it would be better for Diesel not to disturb this old image today, that the sequels should be released on time, that the film is just an easy blank before the next major “Fast and Furious” and all the rest, but we must pay tribute to DJ Caruso tried to fame, making albeit not as successful, but still a good continuation. Long-awaited and fascinating, full of dizzying tricks and Vin Diesel in a fur coat.
The director of the chic thriller “Taking Lives” and the youth action “I am the Fourth” from “Three X” squeezed everything possible so that he looked fashionable and did not hit the eye with archaicity, while returning the very character of Diesel, who fell in love with the audience in the first picture. As they say, sometimes they come back - it means someone needs it.
Unfortunately, times are changing. Instead of the explosive drive of Rammstein, vile rap and hip-hop sound all around, instead of the refined beauty of Asia Argento, the hero Vin Diesel is surrounded by harsh boy-babs like Ruby Rose, the chief villain should skillfully wave his fists like Donnie Yen, and the death of a former friend and mentor is obliged according to the classical scheme.
All this is mixed with the breathtaking charms of camera work and performing dizzying tricks with the help of all sorts of improvised means, of which only one rental to the TV on a skateboard is able to plug any spectacular pursuit of cinema in recent years.
What the picture copes with hurrah, is with action. Having worked for Michael Bay, director Caruso seems to have evolved into a solid visionary perfectionist - every frame is perfectly calibrated to the millimeter, every fight, every broken glass, jump, punch - visually everything in the film is perfectly simple except for the scene of sleeping half-naked British beauties, censored to the needs of the children's PG-13 rating.
The action itself jumps rapidly starting not only with the prologue, but even with the screensaver and credits, where we are shown the crash of the satellite - the first of a large number. This film is now much closer, for example, to “Kingsman” than to “James Bonds” and something like that, it’s a new generation of special agents in business, a modern look at saving the world, government conspiracies, fashionable gadgets, paranoia of surveillance and double bottom stories.
Indeed, despite the fact that the canvas of the story here fits into a simple couple of sentences about how the brave guys are looking for a specific McGuffin, trying to stop the next representatives of international terrorism, the top-notch twists of the plot do not keep themselves waiting, surprising with their appearances the entire second half of the film to the very end, which would be good to do in general a bonus scene after the credits, so that it became very good.
But despite the fact that the stories have something to impress, all this running is certainly not suitable for the plot of the first picture – that’s where the real meat and a truly fascinating narrative was. The triquel sequel (as the second "Three X" is better to ignore at all despite the secret cameo you guess who) is able to pull the strap only at the expense of its twists, but without providing something clear and meaningful.
Including enough conditional, in some ways even template motivation of the characters, but in this film so much humor that sometimes you wonder, and not for the sake of frank banter made all these cliches? That’s why you think of “Kingsman” as if you’re watching an action comedy that makes fun of itself and clichés of its kind. With proper perception, "Three X3" simply can not disappoint, fitting at least in a very cheerful one-time entertainment.
One-time - because, knowing all these twists and turns of the plot curls again, this third part is unlikely to want to review, except to refresh the memory before the release of the next, if it takes place. Fans now know that waiting for the return of Cage can be very long, and wait.
The film-attraction with its mission copes with a decent assessment. With any of the missions – and to start the movie year of 2017 with a really successful blockbuster after a complete failed fiasco from “Assassin’s Creed” (and what did not work in that film surprisingly well works in this), and to return Diesel to a really cool role after a similar failure of the worthless “The Last Witch Hunter”, and entertain the viewer with his truly funny humor and impressive stunt scenes.
Vin Diesel here is very cool, pathetic and good. As he says about himself and his team – a kind of “good bad guy”, he’s an ass without the desire to obey, but he knows his business by the tooth, a special agent what else to look for! The company he picked up a bright, among which the master of hand-to-hand martial arts Donnie Yen will be especially distinguished.
But the real opening of the film was the fragile heroine-smart Nina Dobrev! This is a character who stole the whole movie! Technological computer genius, master of weapons, and even with an incredibly stunning appearance – the ideal Q of our days and the main highlight of this picture.
DJ Caruso has returned to the service of a beautiful movie hero, we can say revived the franchise, killed by the wretched second part and now resurrected by a very good triquel. Not everything is perfect here, but the picture has such expressive and bright advantages that many shortcomings can be easily forgiven, and some conventions can be openly accepted, even grinding your teeth. It turned out a representative of modern entertainment cinema, performed in the best traditions of the genre.
