And the impressions of this continuation are twofold. On the one hand, it is pleasant, of course, to see the beloved heroes again, especially when there was little hope that they were alive at all. There should be a lot of good TV shows, and I liked Dark Butler. And I wanted to continue – contrary to common sense, because the ending was logical, spectacular and exhaustive.
Well, it turned out that the continuation exists - but very peculiar. First, it has nothing to do with the original manga. However, the first series, too, the plot diverged from the drawn source, so it does not matter.
Secondly, the continuation is filled with an atmosphere of some decadent perversion, painful to the bottom. These are no longer jokes, but real twists of the brain in a good half of the characters. The thing is that the "Dark Butler-2" in front of us appears "dark" twin
Ciel -
Alois Transi, along with his estate and household. And if the estate of the Phantomhives reigns Victorian ceremoniality and universal harmony, dissonance in which brings only misanthropic depression of the owner, then in the estate of Transi. Everything painful and unhealthy that can appear between the demon and his "client" - manifested in the relationship Alois of his butler Claude Faustus. And the past of Alois is a mockery of Ciel’s past: deprivation instead of a happy childhood, loneliness instead of a friendly family, hatred instead of love.
In short, Transi and his household were wildly repulsive. Even Alois himself, who, in general, is a tragic person, and, in theory, should elicit sympathy. All this together: the decadent atmosphere of the estate, the sick psyche of the unhappy young sadist, the icy carnivorousness of Claude, next to which the Mephistopheles-like Sebstian looks like a boy from the church choir - all this leaves a very painful impression.
Another drawback is the excess surrealism in the final scenes. Of course, the series is mystical, but it turned out somehow... too much. I'm talking about the metamorphosis of the garden of the Transi estate - the viewer will understand. It doesn’t fit, Imho, with the style of the series.
Despite all this, I watched the series to the end and not without pleasure. It is not worse, or even better (although much) than the first, and the plot in it is very interesting. There’s also a sense – it’s basically a show about how hatred leads to new misfortunes, and self-sacrifice leads to salvation. In addition, “Dark Butler-2” more fully reveals the details of the world of the series – for example, allows you to learn more about demons, which, it turns out, are very diverse in appearance and behavior.
And the heroes were very successful. Although I criticized them - objectively the images are very strong, the appearance is memorable, there are characteristic for anime "crown phrases", perfectly drawn facial expressions. And the overall style of “The Dark Butler” is present in the second part in full.
Result: The second part was very controversial. Mainly because of the general soreness and villains-perverts, in the psychology of which the creators of the anime enthusiastically dig. It turned out very amateur, for those who like stories about maniacs and decadent surroundings. If you need gothicness in unhealthy concentrations and characters who know a lot about perversions - this is what you need. If you like the first part or manga, you can also watch it, but not at all. In general, it is quite tolerable, but it is not necessary to watch.
