Anime is good, but I do not share general delights. Despite the fact that the creators tried to thoroughly justify all the fantastic assumptions and explain everything, some inconsistencies cut the eye. Namely,
1) Why did Mayuri’s death happen at the same time, down to a second? People say, “Whoever is hanged will not drown.” If she was to be killed, she must survive without meeting the killers. Otherwise, history smells like bad mysticism. In theory, even small changes in the past should change the future, especially purposeful ones. But the butterfly effect somehow worked very badly.
2) How did Okarin send a d-mail from a wasteland in episode 21? No one was on duty at the microwave and the TV was most likely turned off.
(3) Why do you have to do all this in episodes 23-24? Why was it necessary to involve Okabe in all this?
What I can praise Stein’s Gate for is its heroes. They are interesting, very different, charming, you empathize with them, it is difficult to part with them after watching the series. Noble lunatic Okarin, kawayna Mayushi, judicious Kurisu, always cheerful Daru, bold Suzuha - all of them fearlessly fought both with the treacherous CERN and with fate itself, to the best of their strength and capabilities. The plot is quite fascinating, and not only the second half, where the entire “thriller” is concentrated, but not everyone liked the first, “production” part. Perhaps, for me, who grew up on Soviet science fiction, watching a company of friends creating fantastic inventions was even more interesting than a pathetic drama with shooting and conspiracy. Partly because it was when the heat started that logic began to limp.
Well, the classic idea for chronooper is that we are the masters of our own destiny, and one should never give up and be content with the lesser of two evils. Suddenly, humbled, we stop a step away from the only right decision? Friendship is the most important thing. For the sake of true friends, spare nothing - when the time comes, they will come to your aid, support and help you, as you once did.
Bottom line: a good science fiction anime about time travel. Some illogicality is compensated by cute characters, harsh optimism and the exploratory spirit that permeates this anime.
