Emmanuel Arsan is a French writer whose real name is Mariah Rollet-Andrian. He is known for creating a character named Emmanuel who explores her own sexuality under various circumstances.
Mariah was born in 1932 in Bangkok, Thailand. At 16, she married a French diplomat named Louis-Jacques Rollet-Andrian, who worked for UNESCO. Together with him, she went to France, where the couple had two beautiful daughters.
In 1959, her novel Emmanuel was published in France. However, at the time it was signed with the name Emmanuel Arsan, and no one knew who was hiding behind it. Later it became known that the author is just Maraya Rolle-Andrian.
This novel was widely regarded as a quasi-autobiography. However, later it became clear that the actual author of the work was her husband. Then several more novels appeared under the pseudonym Emmanuel Arsan. But the popularity of Emmanuel could not be interrupted.
In 1974, it was decided to film the work “Emmanuel”. In the same year, Mariah became the nominee director and screenwriter of the film “Laura”, which told about the sexual discoveries of Laura’s girlfriend, the younger Emmanuel. This film was released in 1976. The actual directors of the film were Louis-Jacques Rolle-Andrian and Roberto D’Ettore Piazzoli. However, the film was eventually attributed to an anonymous director, as Emmanuel and her husband were disappointed with the result and did not want the film to be associated with their names.
In 1966, Mariah starred in the film “Sand Pebbles”. In the credits, she was listed under the pseudonym Maraya Andrian. A year later, she appeared in an episode of the American TV series The Big Valley. A little later, another film was released.
Emmanuel forever. .
