Ivan Andreevich Krylov is a Russian poet who gained wide popularity thanks to fables, which he wrote over two hundred. In his youth he was also well known as a satirist. He was born in February 1769 in Moscow. In childhood, he often changed his place of residence, since his father Andrei Prokhorovich Krylov served in the regiment.
At the age of fifteen, Ivan Krylov wrote his first work - the opera "Coffee Girl", which was published only after the author's death. The early work of the writer also includes the comedies “Mad Family”, “The Writer in the Hallway”, “Pranksters” and the tragedy of “Philomela”.
My debut as a fabulist Ivan Andreevich Krylov began in 1805, when he translated two fables
Jean de La Fontaine "Oak and Cane" and "Selective Bride." Later, such works as “The Wolf on the Psarna”, “The Crow and the Fox”, “The Quarter”, “The Dragonfly and the Ant”, “The Swan, Cancer and the Pike”, “The Elephant and the Mouse”, “The Monkey and Glasses”, “The Pig under the Oak” and many other fables saw the light.
Krylov’s fables were translated into German, Azerbaijani, Armenian and Georgian at different times. In addition to fabulous writing, Ivan Krylov composed plays. "Fashion shop" and "Lesson for daughters" had a huge success on the stage.
The last years of his life Ivan Andreevich Krylov spent in laziness and gourmetism. The famous writer died in November 1844. /
