In 1979, Alexandra Marinina graduated from the Law Faculty of Lomonosov Moscow State University. After distribution, she got into the Academy of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR, where she worked as a laboratory assistant, but in 1980 she became a researcher and received the title of police lieutenant. The subject of her study was criminals with mental disabilities and those who repeatedly committed a violent crime. She defended her PhD thesis. A lot of scientific work, published more than 30 works.
In 1994 she began working as editor-in-chief at the Law Institute of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia. She retired in 1998 as a police lieutenant colonel.
The first work of Alexandra Marinina was the story “Six-winged Seraphim”, which was published in the magazine “Militia” in 1992. The story was written together with Alexander Gorkin. That is why the author has such a pseudonym. Marina decides to write for herself. As a result, from 1993 to 1994, there are “Conciliation of circumstances”, “Game on a foreign field” and “Stolen dream”, in which the main character – Anastasia Kamenskaya – investigates complex and cruel crimes. In 1995, the publishing house “EXMO” made an offer to cooperate with Alexandra Marinina. Books began to appear in the series "Black Cat".
In 1998, at the Moscow International Book Fair, Alexander Marinina became “Writer of the Year”.
Since 1999, the company "Rekun-film" began the adaptation of detective novels Marinina, where the role of Kamenskaya performed Elena Yakovleva.
In the summer of 2009, the book “Good Intentions” was published in the new cycle “A Look from Eternity”. In the period from 2010 to 2011, Marinina releases a continuation of the story about Kamenskaya: “Life after life”, “Personal motives”, “Death as art”.
Her last book, The Battle of Tigers in the Valley, was published in 2012.
