Jurek Becker is a well-known German writer and screenwriter, author of the novels “Jakob Liar” (in 1975, a film nominated for “Oscar” was filmed on him), “Boxer”, “Sleepless Days” (also filmed), “Deceiving the authorities”, “After the first future” and others. For his literary activity, Becker was awarded the Charles Veillon Prize, the Heinrich Mann Prize, the Bremen Literary Prize. He was a member of the German Academy of Language and Literature (Darmstadt).
