Takashi Matsuoka was born on January 10, 1954 in Hokkaido, Japan, but has lived in Honolulu since the age of two. Nevertheless, the boy was brought up in the spirit of Japanese culture and traditions. His grandfather was a reporter for the Associated Press, his father also worked as a journalist for the Herald Tribune. Matsuoka graduated from the University of Hawaii, where he studied physics, then attended law school in New York. And in the interval between studies, he lived in Japan for several years, where he wrote articles for the English-language magazine Japan Automotive News. Upon returning to the United States, he also published articles on motorcycles, briefly edited the magazine “Rider magazine” devoted to motorcycle travel. Then Matsuoka worked in a Zen Buddhist temple, traveled to the United States, Canada and Europe, wrote novels - he dreamed of writing since childhood. However, it was not the first novel he wrote, but only the fifth or sixth, and the author himself believes that this is good - by his admission, each subsequent book came out noticeably better than the previous one. The 2002 novel Arrows in the Wind, set in Japan on the eve of the Meiji Restoration, has been very well received by readers and has now been translated into 15 languages, including German, French, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Portuguese and Hebrew. In 2004, Takashi Matsuoka’s new book “Autumn Bridge” was published.
