“At the age of 15, I turned my thoughts to learning. At 30, I had a solid foundation. At the age of 40, I was able to free myself from doubt. When I was 50, I knew the will of heaven. At 60, I learned to distinguish truth from lies. At the age of 70, I began to follow the call of my heart and did not break the Ritual, said the Chinese philosopher and teacher of his followers Confucius.
His real name is Kung Qiu, the date of his birth is considered to be September 28, 551 BC, and in memory of this event in Taiwan, where the Chinese mostly live, Teacher’s Day is celebrated at the end of September.
Confucius was a descendant of a noble but impoverished family living in the kingdom of Lou. His mother was the third wife of warrior Shulian He. She was convinced that her son, as omens testified, would be a great man. One of the legends says that on the body of the baby there were 49 signs of his election.
At the age of 17, Confucius became the state caretaker of barns and cattle, simultaneously engaged in self-education. This led to the fact that by the age of thirty, he decided to establish a school where anyone can learn the laws of being and develop their own abilities. Over time, his popularity reached such proportions that he was appointed Minister of Justice. Thanks to his efforts in the kingdom of Lu came a time of prosperity, but envious slandered Confucius, and he decides to leave the country. Together with his followers, the Master went to travel around China, telling the people of China about his teachings.
He returned to the kingdom of Lu at the age of 60. Confucius devoted the rest of his life to literary and philosophical works. He processed and systematized Shi Ching (Book of Songs), Yi Ching (Book of Changes), Chunqiu (Spring and Autumn), Shi Ching (Book of Poems). Subsequently, his disciples compiled from Confucius’ statements the book “Lun Yu” (“Conversations and Judgments”).
The philosopher predicted his death in advance and died in 479 BC.
