Diana received three higher educations. An unexpected turn of career led the future writer in the field of computer technology. For ten years, already a professor at the university, she taught, wrote textbooks and scientific articles, as the editor worked on the creation of a computer encyclopedia, founding a professional computer publication Science Software Quarterly.
In the late eighties, Diana suddenly decided to try her hand at fiction. She said she wanted to write a novel about something. During this period, she read a lot of mysticism, so the decision to write a mystical book was quite obvious. The actress wasn’t finicky about the location of the story, but she had just watched a TV program about Scotland, and she was literally fascinated by the beauty of this country. This is how the choice of location was decided.
Excerpts from the work “Outlander” the writer decided to place on one literary forum of the Internet – not so much because of attracting attention or fame, but as an argument in the discussion. Part of the as-yet-unexisting novel attracted unexpected attention, received many positive reactions, and one forum visitor decided to introduce Gabledon to his literary agent.
A year and a half later, the book was finished and published. It was the beginning of the saga, created in style, which the writer herself is unable to define. Diana’s works were regularly included in the list of bestsellers of the New York Times, they were translated into many languages and published in more than 20 countries.
Today Gabledon lives in Arizona with his husband Doug Watkins and releases works from the series “Wandererer”, which included the novels “Dragonfly in amber”, “Drums of autumn”, etc.
