Javier Marias was born on September 20, 1952 in Madrid, Spain. After graduating from high school, he entered the University of Madrid at the Faculty of English Philology. After receiving a diploma, he spent two years teaching, lecturing on literature at Oxford University and Complutense University. Javier started writing early. Already at the age of nineteen, he published the novel Possession of the Wolf, which broke the traditional framework of the literary realistic trend of the time.

Javier started writing early. Already at the age of nineteen, he published the novel Possession of the Wolf, which broke the traditional framework of the literary realistic trend of the time.
In 1972 he published his second book, Cross the Horizon. She received the warm approval of criticism and enthusiastic reviews of fans of his talent, so distinguished by his unique style among contemporaries.
Next come the novels “The Monarch of Time”, “The Century” and “The Sentimental Man”. The latter was awarded the Herralde Prize from the publishing house Anagram.
In addition, the writer is successfully engaged in the translation activities of such popular English-language authors as Joseph Conrad, Stevenson, Isaac Dinesen and Lawrence Stern.
Javier Marias’ new novel “All Souls” was released in 1989 and was awarded the Barcelona Prize, and subsequently filmed.
In the 90s, such books as “While They Sleep”, the novel “White Heart”, “In the hour of battle tomorrow remember me”, “In the hour of battle tomorrow remember me”, “Life of a ghost”, “When I was mortal”, “Miramientos”, “Black back of time”, “Since I saw your death”.
The works of Javier Marias were repeatedly awarded with prestigious literary awards.
