Igor Bobrin is a famous Russian figure skater.
In 1972 and 1974-1976 Bobrin took third place at the USSR championship, then became a four-time champion of the Soviet Union. In 1977 and 1979 Igor became the owner of the USSR Cup. In 1976, Igor Bobrin debuted at the world championship. During the Winter Olympics Bobrin rose to sixth place, the American public did not like the judging.
In 1981, Bobrin managed to achieve the greatest success in his sports career. He was brought to the European championship by Sergey Volkov because of the ban on traveling abroad from Ovchinnikov. At the 1981 World Cup, Igor was fifth in the figures and fourth in the short program. American fans admired the figure skater, applauded standing, for artistry judges put the scores 5.8-5.9.
In 1982 at the European Championships in Lyon there was an unpleasant incident. At the end of the warm-up of the strongest group, the first of which was to be Igor, on the ice was a Polish group supporting Solidarity. French fans greeted them with a hum, about 1-2 minutes later police escorted them out of the arena. As a result, due to emotional overstrain, Igor Bobrin could not perform as planned, taking only the third position.
In early 1983 Bobrin took second place in the championship of the Soviet Union, but the leaders of the Federation under the pretext of “rejuvenation of the composition” decided not to include the skater in the national team. At the same time, the third vacancy at the European Championship from the Soviet Union was free.
In the spring of 1983, as part of the demonstration performances of the Soviet team, the wires of Igor Bobrin from the world of big sports were held.
In the period from 2011 to 2012 Bobrin was a member of the judging panel of the television show “Professionals Cup”, released on the all-Russian television channel “First channel”.
Bobrin also noted himself as a writer, releasing the book “A Couple In Which Three” in co-authorship with the author.
