He is the author of 12 novels, the brightest figure in Italian prose in recent decades. His books published in Italy have been translated into English, German, French Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Slovenian, Norwegian, Korean, Croatian, Danish, Hebrew, Finnish, Japanese, Lithuanian. His life is an eternal journey. He was born in 1966 in Milan. He spent his childhood in a place between Ligeria and Tuscany, and then traveled around the world, settling in Australia, then California, then Hawaii, then New York, then Boston, but always returning to Italy. He worked as a professional photographer, refrigerator driver, waiter, and taught Italian. Noisy success had his novel “On the Three of Us”, and the book “Birds from nests and enclosures” was appreciated by Federico Fellini himself and invited the author to work together. For several years Andrea de Carlo worked for the great Italian director, and then he made a film about Fellini and his actors. One of their big projects together, Fellini and de Carlo promised to be a film based on the works of Carlos Castaneda, the script for which Andrea de Carlo wrote. After long negotiations with Castaneda, he abandoned the project, but de Carlo described their meeting in one of his works. He also wrote the script for Michelangelo Antonioni, and created the libretto of several ballets. He loves to play guitar and ride horses. He hasn’t found the perfect place to live and doesn’t stay longer than a couple of weeks.
