Roman Valerievich Senchin was born on December 2, 1971 in the city of Kyzyl of the Tuva ASSR (Republic of Tuva) in a family of employees. Roman Valerievich Senchin was born on December 2, 1971 in the city of Kyzyl of the Tuva ASSR (Republic of Tuva) in a family of employees. After graduation, he studied at the construction college in Leningrad, after which he served in the border troops in Karelia, then entered the pedagogical institute of Kyzyl.
In 1993, due to the aggravation of interethnic relations in Tuva, Senchin moved with his parents to the Krasnoyarsk Territory, the village of Eastern Minusinsky district, where Senchin tried to farm.
Since the early 1990s he lived periodically in Abakan and Minusinsk. Works as a loader, janitor, installer.
Since 1995, the first publications of Roman Senchin’s stories begin to appear in local publications. In 1996, Senchin entered the Gorky Literary Institute, which he graduated in 2001. Later he became the author of the magazines “Friendship of Peoples”, “October” and other publications.
He wrote such works as “Athens Nights” (2001), “Minus” (2002), “Nubuk” (2003), “A Day Without a Number” (2006), “Forward and Up on Sacred Batteries” (2008), “Splintered Mosaic: Literary and Critical Articles” (2008), “Eltyshevs” (2009), “Absolute Solo” (2010), “Nothing Scary” (2007), “Information” (2011) and many others. In 2009, the novel “Eltysheva” became the most discussed literary work. The book is included in the shortlists of many prestigious literary awards of Russia, the finalist of the National Bestseller award in 2010.
Critics relate to the work of Senchin ambiguously. Nevertheless, Roman Senchin was awarded the prizes of the magazine “Banner” (2001), the prize “Eureka” (2001), the prize of the weekly “Literary Russia”. Many of his works have been translated and published in Germany.
Currently Roman Senchin lives in Moscow, works in the publication “Literary Russia”. He is the vocalist and leader of the punk band "Bad omen".
