Vladimir Naumovich Naumov was born on December 6, 1927 in Leningrad. His father is the famous cameraman Naum Solomonovich Naumov-Guardian. Perhaps the work of his father influenced the choice of future profession, as Vladimir also chose the path to cinema.
His first mentor was Igor Andreyevich Savchenko: he led the workshop of the directorial faculty of VGIK, which Naumov graduated in 1952. Being one of the most talented graduates, he assisted the master on the set of the films “Third Strike” and “Taras Shevchenko”.
However, the painting “Taras Shevchenko” by maestro Igor Savchenko did not have time to complete: his sudden death struck the entire Soviet cinema. The case was completed by Vladimir Naumov and
"Peace to the Incoming" (1961) attracted the attention of world cinema and won awards at the International Film Festival.
In the following years, Naumov and Alov filmed several classic literary works: “The Bad Anecdote” by F.M. Dostoevsky,
"Running" based on the play by M.A. Bulgakov, but the most outstanding work is recognized as an adventure detective
Tehran-43 with Alain Delon and Kurd Jurgens. For this film, Soviet viewers went to cinemas several times.
The creative union of directors ceased to exist due to the death of Alexander Alov. Already alone, Vladimir Naumov directed the films “Law”, “Choice”, “Ten years without the right to correspond.”
One of the last works of Vladimir Naumov is the film “White Holiday”. The script was created in collaboration with Italian director Tonino Guerra. The picture was conceived specifically for Marcello Mastroianni, but by the will of fate the main role was played by Innocent Smoktunovsky.
Vladimir Naumov is a professor of VGIK, director, screenwriter and producer. But in addition, he is the husband of actress Natalia Belokhvostikova. Daughter Natalia Naumova also decided to become an actress.
