This work earned him the prize of the XVI Cannes International Film Festival for Best Actor, as well as nominations for the BAFTA and Oscar awards. In 1964, Harris starred in Michelangelo Antonioni’s Red Desert, but the work was not as successful. Much better were Camelot, for which he received the Golden Globe Award (best male role), Cromwell (the prize of the Moscow International Film Festival for Best Actor), the film A Man Named Horse (the prize Bronze Cowboy), Cassandra Pass, Orca, Unforgiven and many, many others.
In 1985, Richard Harris was knighted.

Harris' last role was John the Theologian in Apocalypse. In 2001, he was awarded the Empire Awards for his contribution to cinema. In the summer of 2002, Richard Harris was diagnosed with cancer. After the great actor lived for a short time - two months later he died in hospital. According to the will of Richard Harris, his ashes were scattered over the Bahamas, where he had recently lived. /
