Jessica Tandy was born on June 7, 1907 in London. She received her education at the Western University of Ontario, where she studied at the law school, and studied acting at the Ben Greet Academy. Tandy first appeared on the stage in 1929, and in 1948 she received the Tony Award for playing in the play Tramway Desire. In 1963, Jessica Tandy played one of the roles in Alfred Hitchcock's film "Birds", but the real triumph awaited the actress only in 1989 - she played the main role in the drama "Driver Miss Daisy", receiving an Oscar for her. Her last film was Robert Benton's "Shooting Sparrow" with Paul Newman. Jessica Tandy died on September 11, 1994 at her home in Easton, Connecticut.
