His film debut was in 1948 (Date with a Dream), and in the same year he made his television debut. Since 1958, Wisdom is known as a screenwriter ("The Square Peg"), and in 1969 acted as a producer ("What's Good for the Goose"). In 1953, Norman Wisdom wrote the song “Don’t Laugh at Me” for the movie “Misery in the Shop”, which later became his “calling card”. The actor was best known for his comic hero Pitkin, who appeared in more than a dozen films. Despite his advanced age, Norman Wisdom continues to perform on stage, touring with his show. The actor lives on the Isle of Man.
