Giuseppe Zigaina is an Italian neorealist artist and actor. He was born on April 2, 1924 in Palmanov. As a child, he showed a penchant for drawing, studied at a college in Tolmino, where he held his first exhibition at the age of 19. In 1946 he met an outstanding Italian director, poet and prose writer. Pierre Paolo Pasolini With whom Giuseppe eventually developed a fruitful cooperation. Dzigaina worked on illustrations for some of Pasolini’s books, and also participated in the filming of his films

Giuseppe Zigaina is an Italian neorealist artist and actor.
He was born on April 2, 1924 in Palmanov. As a child, he showed a penchant for drawing, studied at a college in Tolmino, where he held his first exhibition at the age of 19. In 1946 he met an outstanding Italian director, poet and prose writer.
Pierre Paolo Pasolini With whom Giuseppe eventually developed a fruitful cooperation. Dzigaina worked on illustrations for some of Pasolini’s books, and also participated in the filming of his films as an actor and screenwriter. After the death of the director, Giuseppe wrote several books about him and his work.
In 1950, he received an award at the Venice Biennale, after which his work came under the influence of the German movement New Materiality. In 1984, Jigaina moved to San Francisco to pursue teaching.
He died on April 15, 2015.
