Willie Mattes (Willy Mattes) is an Austrian composer, conductor, arranger, author of soundtracks for film and popular music. He was born on January 4, 1916 in Vienna as Wilhelm Franz Joseph Mattes. After graduating as a conductor in 1937, he left to work as a choirmaster in Oldenburg and Leipzig, then wrote music and arranged for Ufa and Tobis. He was born on January 4, 1916 in Vienna as Wilhelm Franz Joseph Mattes. From 1944 to 1951 he worked as a conductor at Swedish Radio in Stockholm and Bavarian Radio, and from 1964 to 1974 at South German Radio in Stuttgart.
In 1964, he composed a piano piece that appeared in an American film.
"Madame X" . I must say that music for cinema was present in his life all the years of his career. Among the pictures on which he worked – the musical comedy “Street Serenade”, the melodrama “Summer Girl”, the crime thriller “Frog in the Mask”, the comedy melodrama “Bombs over Monte Carlo”.
Willie was married twice and his daughter Eva Mattes became an actress. The composer died on July 30, 2002 in Salzburg.
