Alfred Gilks – American cinematographer, winner of the Academy Award for film American in Paris . Alfred Gilks was born on 29 December 1891 and died on 6 September 1970. His whole life was spent in Los Angeles, where he began to work in still silent cinema, shooting such films as “Old Armadillos” and “Redhair”. A successful career awaited him in color cinema, where he had to cooperate with many prominent directors and actors of his era. One of the last pictures of Gilks, where he acted as the operator of the second film crew, was a Western. Seekers One of the best in John Ford’s career.
