Damien O’Donnell, an independent Irish filmmaker and writer, was born in 1967 in Dublin, Ireland.
In 1987, he successfully graduated from Coláiste Dhúlaigh College in Dublin, Faculty of Communication and Media. Damien O’Donnell made his first film, 35 Aside, in 1995 with his friends. He founded a small studio called Clingfilms, where the filming took place. This work was followed by the Chrono-Perambulator. Damien O’Donnell’s success came in 1999 with the release of East is East, which won numerous awards, including the Empire Award for Best Debut and the British Independent Spirit Award.
Damien O’Donnell then began work on Film Four, but soon shut it down due to funding issues. As a result, he directed Heartland, a low-budget film that was released in limited release in 2002.
In 2004, O’Donnell made the film.
