Paul Vogel is an American cinematographer, winner of the Oscar for the 1949 war film Battlefield. He was born on August 22, 1899. He began his career in the 1920s and worked almost all his life at the MGM film studio (with a break from military service during the Second World War). During the first years, he often shot short and documentary films, and after the success of Battlefield, he became an operator of full-length feature films.
