Kakhaber Kikabidze was born in Tbilisi, Georgia, on October 2, 1961. After graduating from high school, the young man entered Tbilisi State University at the Faculty of Philology. He graduated in 1984. After 3 years, Kakha began attending the Higher Courses of Directors and Screenwriters in Vladimir Motyl’s studio in Moscow. He graduated from the courses in 1989, and immediately after that he was invited to direct in Poland under the guidance of the famous Polish director Krzysztof Zanussi.

In 1992, the young promising director returned to Georgia, where he began working at the Georgian Film Studio. His first works were two short films, Night and Last Floor.
In 1998, the film Kakha Kikabidze was released.
Lake" Thanks to which the director and screenwriter quickly gained fame around the world. The painting has been shown in 26 countries and received numerous awards. In Russia, the film “Lake” was awarded “Golden Griffin” and “Silver Knight”, the NTV channel awarded the director the award for best film.
This existential drama tells the story of a boy who witnessed the brutal murder of his father. For a long time he was tormented by terrible memories of the crime. The mother decides to take the child from the countryside to the city, where he treats people as criminals who killed his father. Having grown up a little, the young man is trying to radically change his life. Famous actors participated in the filming: Irakli Mshviladze, Dmitry Shvelidze, Alina Nozadze, Natia Gogochuri, Liya Kapanadze.
In 2005, another film directed by Kakha Kikabidze called “The Seventh Day” was released, in the filming of which Russian actors participated: Anatoly Bely, Vitaly Khaev, Vladimir Vdovichenkov and others. The film was awarded prizes from the NTV channel, the Stalker Film Festival and the Silver Knight.
