Born June 23, 1929.

He studied law at the University of Geneva. In 1952 he founded a film club with A. Tanner. He was a film critic. He completed an internship at the British Film Institute, where in 1956 he shot together with Tanner the documentary “Glorious Time” (a prize at the IFF in Venice-57). Since 1958, he has worked on TV in Geneva, created 25 reports for the series “Continents without a visa”, also made documentary and game shorts. In 1968 he was together with A. Tanner, M. Sutter, J. L. Roy and J. J. Lagrange the founder of the Group of Five, which announced a program for the development of French-language cinema in Switzerland. Two years later, he made his film debut with Le Fou. Gorett’s paintings are closely related to the style and problems of the “new Swiss cinema”. The most significant works – “Invitation” (L’invitation, 1973, the IFF prize in Cannes), “Lacemaker” (La Dentelliere, 1977, the FIPRESCI prize at the IFF in Cannes), “Provincial” (La provinciale, 1980, France-Switzerland) – are distinguished by their attention to the realities of everyday life, and at the same time the director leaves everyday writing, trying to convey through a thorough study of the hidden, sometimes elusive to the essence of characters and phenomena the psychological state of society.
A peculiar scientific and analytical approach of Goretta was more manifested in a number of his documentary works of the new period of creativity (The Epistomology of Jean Piaget (The Epistomology? Of Jean Piaget, 1978); Enemies of the Mafia (Les ennemis de la mafia, 1988), together with M. Padovani; The Swiss Faces (Visages Suisses, 1991); The Smile of Belgium (The Sorrow Of Belgium, 1994), as well as in the game television series “Roads of Exile, or the Last Years of Jazza, with the participation of Jean-Jes de Jéssésésésésésésésée desée de Roussésésée desée desésée desésée desée des Jean-Jésée desésée desésée des Jean-Jés desésée desée desée desésésé Historicism, interest in everyday life and at the same time the poetization of reality - all this was manifested together in the film "If the sun did not rise" (Si le soleil ne revenait pas, 1987). He also directed the films “Not so bad” (Pas si mechant que ca..., 1974), “The Death of Mario Ricci” (La mort de Mario Ricci, 1983), “Shadow” (L’ombre, 1990), the cinema opera “Orfeo” (Orfeo, 1985, according to C. Monteverdi, France-Italy-Canada).
