American director, producer and screenwriter Lloyd Kaufman is from New York. He was born on December 30, 1945 and graduated from Trinity School in 1964. After studying at school, Lloyd was able to enter the prestigious Yale University, where he was friends with George W. Bush.
In 1966, Kaufman went to Africa to conduct research in the village of Chad. There, the future director shoots his first short film, showing a 15-minute scene of scoring a pig. Kaufman’s picture caused shock to the audience, which prompted him to continue working in this direction, realizing that it is such stories that affect the viewer’s subconscious.
In the early 1970s, Lloyd Kaufman started 15th Street Films. His partner was Oliver Stone and Frank Vital. However, the first picture of the studio “Ha-Balash Ha’Amitz Shvartz” did not live up to expectations and brought losses. After that, Kaufman repeatedly dealt with other film studios, wanting to work on new films. But he could not work with the producers for long, wanting to shoot in his own way. He was always oppressed by an environment that made him work as others wanted.
In 1974, Kaufman finally found a place where he was able to realize himself as a talented director and show his individuality. It was the studio of “Troma”, where he made more than three dozen films, taking part in them not only as a director, but also as a producer and even an actor. Among his bright directorial works “Divine Madness” (1976), “Reckless Waitresses” (1982), several parts
"Toxic Avenger" (1984-2011), as well as “Tales from the Dumpster” of 2004.
Lloyd Kaufman over the years of his work has received great recognition from fans of non-standard American cinema. In 1997, at the film festival "Raindance" he was awarded the prize for great success in the film industry. And in 2003 he was noted as a talented director of science fiction films. /
