Polish actress Jadwiga Baranska was born on October 21, 1935 in Lodz. After graduating from the Higher Theatre School in Lodz in 1958, she played on the theater stage of the Classical Polish Theatre for a long time, then went to work in the troupe of the Polish Theatre in Warsaw. In the early sixties, Jadwiga met the director Jerzy Antchak, after an affair with which, followed the wedding and birth in 1964 of her son Mikoladzh. It was in the paintings of her husband that Jadwig Baransk became famous as a film actress, but she also starred in other directors: “Sunken Ships” (1957), “The Restless Resident” (1971),
"Leper" (1976) and others.
Thanks to the main role in the historical film Countess Kossel about Jadwig Baransk, both the public and critics learned, but the most famous role was brought to her by the role of Barbara in the saga about two generations of the Polish family.
"Nights and days" (1975) based on the novel by Maria Dombrovskaya. The film was nominated for the world’s most famous Oscar award, as the best film in a foreign language, and at the Berlin Film Festival, the statuette “Silver Bear” for the best actress was received by Jadwig Baransk.
The actress starred a lot in television plays, also staged by her husband: “Wolves at Night” (1962), “Glass Menagerie” (1963), “Dudek” (1964), “Lark” (1966), “Three Sisters” (1968), “Proposal. Jubilee” (1971).
In the late seventies, Jadwiga Baranská emigrated to America with his family, but returned to Poland in the nineties. According to the script of the actress herself, in 1994 the picture “Lady with Camellia” was released, and in 2000 Jerzy Antchak and Jadwig Baransk started shooting a film about Frederick Chopin and the famous French writer George Sand “Chopin”. Desire for Love, which premiered in 2002.
At the eighth international film festival “Faces of Love” in 2003, Jadwiga Baranskaya acted as an honorary member of the jury. /
