John Pomeroy is an American animator who has collaborated with such large companies as the Walt Disney Company and Sullivan Bluth Studios. John was born in 1951 in Los Angeles. He came to work for Walt Disney in 1973 and in the next created the cartoon “Winnie the Pooh, and with him the Tiger”, awarded an Oscar nomination. In 1979, John, Blat, Oldman and a number of other animators left Disney to form Don Bluth Productions (later renamed the Bluth Group). The studio, which produced the animated film The Secret of N.I.M.Z., faced financial difficulties in 1984 and declared bankruptcy, but was soon reorganized into Sullivan Bluth Studios, headquartered in Dublin. Pomeroy, while in Ireland, worked on such animated films as
American Tail He returned to America in 1989 to form the American wing of the company. After the studio closed, Pomeroy returned to Disney, where he worked on the cartoons Pocahontas, Fantasia 2000 and a number of others. On his account also such animated projects as "Atlantis: The Lost World", "Treasure Planet", "The Simpsons in the Movie", "Fairies: The Lost Treasure" and many others.
