It is difficult to name an award for the best work of the criminal genre, which would not be in her honorary collection. In 1995, McDermid’s novel Singing Mermaids won the Golden Dagger Award for Best Detective Novel of the Year. 2006 brought her another award – the prize of the festival “Theakston’s Old Peculiar” for the fourth book in the series about the adventures of detective Tony Hill and his partner Carol Jordan. The images of these characters are perfectly embodied by the famous English actors Robson Green and Hermione Norris in the television series Tight String, the fourth consecutive season in the BBC world network.
