The first publication in fiction - the novel "Sundiver" (1980), the first novel of the cycle "War for elevation". The second novel of the cycle, “Star Tide” (1983), was awarded the awards “Hugo”, “Nebula” and the magazine “Locus” as the best novel of the year. The third novel of the cycle, “War for the Altitude” (1987), received the “Hugo” award. This trilogy made David Brin one of the most famous authors of the "hard" SF "80s.
In 1985, Brin published the novel The Postman, filmed in 1997 by Kevin Costner - one of the most interesting literary and social experiments in modern fiction. Among his other famous novels is the disaster novel Earth, in which the Earth is destroyed by an artificially created black hole.
In the 1990s, Brin returned to the world of War of Rise in the novels Brightness Reef (1995), Infinity's Shore (1996) and Heaven's Reach (1998).
