Adam Parfrey (born 1957) is an American publicist, editor and founder of Feral House. The son of Woodrow Parfrey (actor, starred as Dr. Maximus in Planet of the Apes, 1968) and Jewess Rosa Ellovich. Born in New York City, he and his family moved to Los Angeles, California in 1962. Adam Parfrey (born 1957) is an American publicist, editor and founder of Feral House.
The son of Woodrow Parfrey (actor, starred as Dr. Maximus in Planet of the Apes, 1968) and Jewess Rosa Ellovich. Born in New York City, he and his family moved to Los Angeles, California in 1962. Upon graduation from Santa Monica High School, he was admitted to the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), from where he transferred to the University of California, Santa Cruz (UCSC); there he studied theater arts and history (without a diploma). At UCLA, he wrote for the university newspaper Daily Bruin and later co-edited it.
He collaborated with the magazine Exit by George Petros.
He founded Feral House with $5,000 in 1989. He is an active member of the Church of Satan. He now lives in Los Angeles.
Parfrey is best known for his anthology Apocalypse Culture (1987, 1990, 2001; known in Russia as Apocalypse Culture (2005)) and Cult Rapture (1995). The book “Allah Does Not Love America,” edited by Parfrey, was blacklisted by the FSB as “not recommended” for sale.
