Artist of the Krasnodar State Academic Drama Theater, Honored Artist of the RSFSR, People's Artist of Russia, laureate of the K. Russian Regional Prize
Born May 7, 1938 at the station Sosyka-1 Pavlovsky district of Krasnodar Krai in a Cossack family. My father went to the Great Patriotic War. Before Anatoly’s eyes, his mother was covered by an exploded shell, and he himself barely survived the terrible bombing, his German surgeon came out. After the war, his father returned home and a peaceful life was established. . .
Gorgul began his artistic activity in 1958 at the Kuznetsk Drama Theatre. Later, he worked at the Orenburg Drama Theatre (1963-1967) and combined his work with his studies in Moscow, at the Nemirovich-Danchenko School-Studio at the MKHAT of the USSR named after M. Gorky, which he graduated in 1966.
In 1967, A.S. Gorgul came to Krasnodar and played Zvezdich in the play by M. Lermontov “Masquerade”.
Since then, he has linked his acting life with the Krasnodar Drama Theater.
The main director of the theater M. Kulikovsky created a talented creative team. A. S. Gorgul played in a star acting ensemble - with Sergei Mikhalev, Elena Afanasyeva, Nikolai Provotorov. Evgeny Kolchinsky, Alina Kuznetsova, Idea Makarevich, Peter Petrov, Stanislav Troysky.
The first roles on the Krasnodar stage spoke about a wide range of creative possibilities of the actor. These were Alexei in the “Director” by Yuri Nagibin, Aramis in the “Three Musketeers” by A. Dumas, Pavelak in “Casa Mare” by I. Drutsa, Cassio in “Othello” by V. Shakespeare, Mikhail Gurman in “Stolen Happiness” by I. Franco. He achieved special success in the role of Semenov in the “Flavnya” by B. Kramarenko, in creating the image of the Hero of the Soviet Union Nikolai Sipyagin in the “Tsemes Bay” by A. Safronov, in revealing the character of the sailor Rybakov in the “Unforgettable Years” by A. Lomonosov in the trilogy of N. Pogodin.
Over the years, his professionalism, artistic taste, scenic charm, helped to create a number of significant, psychologically complex images.
The role of Zakhar Deryugin in the play “Fate” based on the novel by P. Proskurin is one of the first in this series. The difficult fate of the hero is complex, and he lives and struggles even when his strength goes away and it seems that the heart is about to break.
Andrei Golubev in the play by A. Gelman “Alone with everyone” the actor saw the hero of his time and therefore he was looking for the most typical appearance, plasticity, intonation.
To the heights of genuine tragedy, the actor rose in the small role of Macduff in Shakespeare’s Macbeth. It was cold and painful for Macduff to learn of Macbeth’s latest bloody crime, the murder of his wife, children, and servants.
In the nature of Mark Antony, as played by A. S. Gorgul in Shakespeare’s tragedy Antony and Cleopatra, the features of adventurism and careless epicureanism, courage, generosity are balanced. He is absorbed in his love for Cleopatra, his love is devoid of subtlety. By nature, he is a selfish man, loving the simple pleasures of being, poorly versed in the complexity of his time. Truth of morals, truth of feelings, a kind of historical concreteness - these are the main features of this image.
Characters of people of wartime are also subject to A. S. Gorgul. About the events of the Great Patriotic War tells the play of A. Dudarev “Parents”. Extremely tired, devastated by the war, Petty Officer Dugin, the main character of the play, found the strength to be the soul and conscience of the people entrusted to him, those five who remained of the entire company.
In the show-attraction of N. Voronov “A Weekend with a Murder” A.S. Gorgul as Wesson is a funny, ridiculous old man with strange habits. Unexpected, new for his acting palette colors, he creates the external drawing of the role and its internal content.
True and humanly simple, his Don Juan is a legendary hero in the world of romantic drama. Eternal wanderer and duelist, kind and witty, spiritually generous, brave knight, ready for self-sacrifice in a duel for the honor and dignity of his beloved - such is the colorful, beautiful heroes of A.S. Gorgul in the lyrical and dramatic version of L. Zhukhoviyki "The Last Woman of Señor Juan".
In the acting nature of A.S. Gorgul, the conquering and exciting truth of life on the stage is laid down. He does not play his hero, whether it is Dr. Martyn Sadovnikov in the play A. and P. Tour “The Only Witness” or Andrei Vorokhov in “The Soldier’s Widow” by N. Ankilov, but lives his life, combining his own life and fate with his fate – such a wonderful fusion gives rise to the truth on the stage, that recognition, which is the fruit of the highest professional acting skills.
Changing the character and appearance, the actor introduces us to such different characters as the SUV Selishchev in Whose Overcoat - Comrades? B. Krivosheya, Pastor Manders in G. Ibsen’s Ghosts, Professor Preobrazhensky in Bulgakov’s Heart of a Dog. .
There was in the creative biography of A. S. Gorgul the moment of temptation of cinema. In the film by Alexei Saltykov “Prince of Silver” on Lenfilm in 1989, he played Basil the Blessed, and a year later he was approved for the main role in the film “Life of Alexander Nevsky” directed by N. Kuznetsov at the Sverdlovsk film studio.
The whole country watched the films with enthusiasm. However, Anatoly Sergeevich does not consider himself to the film guild. He's devoted to the theater. “Hamlet” by V. Shakespeare, “Blue Bird” by M. Meterlink, Chekhov’s “Uncle Vanya”, “Foma Fomich” by F. Dostoevsky, “Sir Falstaff and Windsor Mockers” by V. Shakespeare, “Slavebirds” by A. Ostrovsky, “Players” by N. Gogol, “Captain’s Daughter” by A. Pushkin, “Cunning Lover” by Lope de Vega – this is only an incomplete list of performances in which A.S. Gorgu played.
The actor succeeded in one of his new roles in the play “Accompanist” based on the play by A. Galin. Here A.S. Gorgul played Isolde. His Isold is a personality more tragic than comic. A queer person does things that do not correspond to his age. In this madness - the desire to escape from old age. And there is no escape: he is deceived, offended, lonely. In this role, the actor goes on stage to overcome the pain of others as his own. The role of Isolde was nominated for the award of People's Artist of the USSR M.A. Kulikovsky.
A.S. Gargoyle continues to play on the stage of dramatic theater, at the Kuban State University of Culture and Art, he conducts a course on acting at the Department of Theater Directing.
The professional skill of L.S. Gorgul is highly appreciated: in 1975 he became Honored Artist of the RSFSR, in 1991 - People's Artist of Russia, in 1996 - laureate of the K. Rossinsky Regional Prize.
