In 1977, after successfully graduating from the Leningrad State Institute of Theatre, Music and Cinema (LGITMIK, now SPGATI), he began working at the Drama Theatre of Omsk. Among his performances of that period can be distinguished productions "Up the stairs leading down", "Law of Eternity", "War has no female face", "Inquiry". Since 1990, for four years Gennady Rafailovich Trostyanetsky was the director of the St. Petersburg Theater on Litein, after that he collaborated with many major theaters of the country: the Mossovet Theater, the Open Theater in St. Petersburg, MTUZ, the Free Space Theater for Children and Youth.
Gennady Trostyanetsky entered the history of theatrical art as one of the organizers of the largest K. Ginkas Festival of Performances and the initiator of the first A. Efros Festival. He currently teaches acting and directing at St. Petersburg State Academy of Theatre Arts. /
