Tangerine Dream is a German musical group formed in 1967 by student Edgar Frese. The composition of the band's musicians changes repeatedly, but the most stable is the team with the participation of such musicians as Peter Baumann (German Peter Baumann), Edgar Froese (German Edgar Froese), Christopher Franke (German Christopher Franke), Klaus Schulze (German Klaus Schulze). Tangerine Dream is a pioneer of the Berlin School of Electronic Music.
In 1967, Edgar Freza, at that time a student of the Academy of Arts, as well as the founder of The Ones, came up with the idea of creating a project performing electronic music. Edgar soon formed the composition of the future team. The group "Tangerine Dream" begins to actively advance in the music world, "living" clubs and gaining popularity among connoisseurs of the avant-garde.
In 1970, Klaus Schultz and Edgar Frese meet, and after a joint performance, the musicians decide on permanent cooperation, while the rest of the band members one by one leave it. Soon, Klaus and Edgar are joined by Konrad Schnitzler, and in this composition the musicians release their debut demo recording “Electronic Meditation”. In 1971, the album Alpha Centauri was released, which became the beginning of the formation of the musical style. It does not bring much success, and Edgar again remains alone. By 1972, a new lineup of the group was assembled: Christopher Franke, Peter Baumann and founder Edgar Frese. It is in this composition that the best albums of the group “Tangerine Dream” come out. Musicians begin experiments with sound, and the use of improvised musical instruments becomes characteristic, and the sound itself becomes more aggressive. In the same year, the album “Zeit” was released, in which synthesizers and string quartet are combined.
1973 marked the release of the disc “Atem”, which becomes the “album of the year” according to the BBC. That’s when the popularity of musicians comes. In 1974, the album "Phaedra" appeared. Taking into account that at that time the synthesizer sound of songs was very new, all the musical achievements of the group "Tangerine Dream" deservedly fall into the charts of many countries and occupy the top positions in the world charts. In addition, the songs of the group are used as soundtracks for many films, for example,
"Inflammable look" "Wave Length", "Thief", "OST Risky Business", "Streethawk", "OST The Legend", "OST Babylon 5". In the archive of the group - more than 70 studio albums, more than 40 years of creative work and a huge number of fans. /
