Guy-Manuel and Thomas meet in 1987 while studying at school. Learning that they listen to the same music, in particular guitarist Jimmy Hendrix, the guys come up with the idea of writing and recording their own music, and in 1990 they formed the group “Darling”, in which Thomas plays bass guitar, and Guy Manuel writes and performs songs. After the band's performance at the StereoLab concert, an English magazine published a review in which the band members were called "daft punks." This was the name of the future band, who changed guitars to synthesizers.
In 1994, Daft Punk's debut track "New Wave/Alive" was released, which caused mixed reactions, both critics and listeners. Soon musicians release remixes of band compositions
and "Gabrielle" called "Da Funk", which became real hits in many French and British charts. The album Homework was released in 1997, and is a storehouse of various musical styles and trends. The compositions are performed in both French and English. Some of their tracks become musical accompaniments to anime series, for example. Interstella 5555 Some go on to soundtrack movies like "Tron: Legacy." The album Discovery musicians released in 2001.
In 2003, musicians solve the problem of distributing their compositions quite simply - on the Internet they create a funk club duo called "Daft Club", and there, completely free to post tracks, compositions and remixes for fans. In 2005, the album “Human After All” was released, which includes 10 tracks, including the famous “Robot Rock”. The following year, "Human After All" was awarded the 2006 Grammy as "Best Dance Album".
In 2007, the duo took part in the recording of the album “Graduation”, rapper Kanye West, and then went on a tour “Alive 2007”.
In 2009, Daft Punk won two Grammy Awards.
