Andrei Pavlovich Petrov is a prominent Soviet Russian composer, author of music of various genres - to popular films, dramatic and musical performances, as well as a number of vocal-orchestral, chamber-vocal and instrumental compositions.
He was born in Leningrad on September 2, 1930. With the outbreak of the war with his family, he was evacuated to the city of Leninsk-Kuznetsky in Siberia, where young Andrei became fond of reading books, and also attended a music school. Then he tried himself for the first time in literature, writing several short stories, poems and even the beginning of the novel. Despite his music classes, the decision that he would devote his whole life to this business was not taken immediately. Only in 1945, after seeing the film “The Big Waltz” and being fascinated by the music sounded in it, he made a choice in favor of composition. Ahead were studies at the music school and the Leningrad Conservatory, and already at an early stage of his activity Petrov declared himself a composer with a bright creative personality.
In the future, the public will love him for the music to numerous films, without his compositions today it is impossible to imagine such classic tapes as
"I'm walking in Moscow" "Amphibian Man,"
"Beware of the car" "Office Romance", "Autumn Marathon", "Cruel Romance", "About the poor hussar say a word", historical television series "Petersburg secrets" - the music for these and many other films has become truly popular. And there were numerous symphonic compositions, works for musical theater, including the musical “Captain’s Daughter”, staged including on Broadway. Appeared, albeit relatively late, in his creative biography and such serious works as opera and ballet.
His heart stopped beating on February 15, 2006. He was 75 years old.
